Are you considering Emotional Freedom Technique but feeling unsure about what to expect, or if it’s for you?
Here are my most frequently asked questions.
If you have any other queries that haven’t been covered here, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
We can either meet online (Zoom) or you are welcome in my cabin in Leek, or another venue in the town centre.
Firstly, I recommend if you are interested in how sessions can support you give me a call or book in for your FREE complimentary chat, and we can explore how you are and how I could support you.
If you would like to book in sessions, I will forward you a client consultation and agreement to complete, but don't worry if you don't get round to this as we can go through it in your first session.
We will discuss what is going on for you and how I can best support you. I will introduce you to the tapping points and ways we can use them in a session, as well as discussing grounding practices to suit you if you feel overly triggered or upset at any point during our time together.
I work in a very person-centred way, and listening to you is key to a session, as is taking it at a pace to suit you. I will not push you, and I am a believer that given the right conditions in a supportive empathic environment, clients often come up with many solutions themselves; we just have the added powerful tool that is EFT to gently support the process.
The term Tapping and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) are often used interchangeably.
EFT is the whole process of integrating psychotherapeutic practices with gentle tapping on meridian acupoints.
No, it can take a few minutes, and I can send you a video of how to practice.
Sessions are seated, similar to a counselling session.
Wear whatever makes you comfortable! Treatment does not involve the removal of any clothes.
The acupoints on your hands and face are gently touched during EFT, and I will teach you to administer the touches for yourself. I can tap on your hands if required, but I generally prefer to empower my clients to use tapping for themselves.
I am a qualified yoga teacher and massage therapist, so it’s not uncommon for clients to request some hands-on treatment of their shoulders and neck to aid relaxation at the end of a session. This is entirely your choice and not necessary to experience the benefits of EFT.
In addition to gentle massage of your neck or shoulders if required, I frequently weave breathing and mindfulness practices into my sessions.
No, one is just fine, and we don't have to use all the points either. It's a very gentle practice.
No, not all. Sometimes I only use one or two tapping points with clients depending on the session, and it doesn't matter if some are missed out. Most importantly is to be relaxed and forgiving about the process. I will be tapping with you throughout the session.
Clients and workshop attendees mostly feel deeply relaxed and present after a session, their internal energy systems are flowing freely, and difficult emotions have been released. I encourage you to drink plenty of water after the sessions.
